Piotr Górzycki
Date of birth:
9.05.1981
Sex:
Man
Where you live (city/country):
Gdynia, Poland
Nationality:
Polish
What is your marathon personal best?:
03:10:42
Where and when did you run it?:
25.09.2011, Warsaw Marathon
How many marathons did you run?:
9
Why did you choose to run the ABN AMRO Marathon
Rotterdam?:
In year 2011 I gained "Crown of Polish Marathons" (event which
consist of finishing 5 major marathons in Poland within 2 years
time). Then I have decided that next 42k run will be done
abroad.
A friend of mine have encouraged me to participate in Rotterdam
Marathon, claiming that fast track and great atmosphere will help
me to run sub 3 hours marathon.
I believe he knows what he says as he participated in Rotterdam in
1989 and finished with result 2:45:45.
How did you first hear about the marathon in Rotterdam?:
My running mate, advisor and nieghbour - Andrzej Krzyszkowski
[60 years old amathor runner] asked me to register him in ABN AMRO
MARATHON ROTTERDAM 2012, it was just a bait for me. I couldn't stop
thinking about this event and I have registered myself as well
:)
Have you previously taken part in Rotterdam?:
No
What are your expectations of the forthcoming ABN AMRO Marathon
Rotterdam?:
My expectations were clear.
Taking into account my progress in 42K run:
10.10.2010 ,03:45:10
24.10.2010, 03:34:40
17.04.2011, 03:25:59
11.09.2011, 03:17:03
25.09.2011, 03:10:42
It was clear for me that 15.04.2012 in Rotterdam shall be sub 3
hours.
Unfortunately I got injury, that has excluded me from training
for 3 months and right now I do not know what to expect.
I think I will keep in my mind a motto: "A marathon is a race
without race, colour, religion, sex, prejudice, nationality, hate,
where everyone starts as an equal, and everyone finishes as a
winner"...I just want to finish and enjoy my run.
More to that I hope I will be participating in the event which
will end up with a new world record! (Mosop, Kitwara , Kirui ..go
for it!!!).
How long are you staying in Rotterdam and what do you want to
see in the city?:
We have a plans to make a one week trip across Netherlands. We
will stay 3 days in Rotterdam (after main event we just want to
hang around, grab a bottle of cold Jupiler and do some
sightseeing), in next days we are going to visit Haag, Amsterdam,
Eindhoven and come back to Poland.
What would you like to say (in your own language) to other
people who are running or would like to run the marathon in
Rotterdam?:
Życzę wszystkim udanego biegu i pobicia rekordów życiowych w
szczególności mojemu koledze Andrzejowi Krzyszkowskiemu, który w
wieku 60 lat chce uzyskać czas w maratonie poniżej 3h. Powodzenia
Andrzej!
(I just want to wish everybody successful run and breaking
personl best, I especially keep my fingers crossed for my colleague
Andrzej Krzyszkowki who wants to finish marathon race sub 3hours at
age of 60! Good luck Andrzej!)
