Why did you choose to run the ABN AMRO Marathon Rotterdam?:

Met my wife, Anja in Vlieland over 18 years ago when I was there as a visiting Piano Bar performer. We lived in Delft for almost 4 years and I've run Rotterdam 3 times (1998, 1999, 2000). Since then, both my wife and Brother-in-law Berto Somsen have completed marathons. Most recently, the three of us completed the Big Sur Marathon in May of 2011, hand in hand crossing the finish line. We are running to celebrate our two nationalities, our families and a lifestyle of balance, fitness and love.

How did you first hear about the marathon in Rotterdam?:

Lived in Delft, NL, so heard about it while I was there in the late 90's.

Yes

If so, how many times?:

If so, what do you remember most?:

The Block Party at K32!!!! I still remember the exact songs that motivated me as I passed by. 1998: Janet Jackson, Together Again, 1999: Dan Hartman, Relight My Fire and 2000: DJ Otzi, Hey Baby. They have no idea how much they impact the runners right at THE WALL!

What are your expectations of the forthcoming ABN AMRO Marathon Rotterdam?:

Either to get a PR or to finish together with my family. We'll have to see how the next couple of months pan out regarding my training.

Do you run alone, with you partner or with a group?:

Alone

How long are you staying in Rotterdam and what do you want to see in the city?:

Just a couple of nights. We'll be spending time with family.

What would you like to say (in your own language) to other people who are running or would like to run the marathon in Rotterdam?:

Get ready for the fastest course and best fans in the world. It's truly a privelege to run this race.
