Talented Tirza van der Wolf (16) fastest woman in the AD 5 K Run
Sixteen years young and already running to victory
over the Coolsingel. On Sunday April 10, Tirza van der Wolf
found out what it is like to finish in Rotterdam. The winner of the
AD 5 K Run already knows that she will run more often in
Rotterdam. "Later, when I'm really grown up, I want to run a
marathon here. But from now on I'm going to focus on the track
season and shorter races over 800 and 1500
metres."
Around half past eleven, when the elite runners have 10
kilometres behind them already, it is a relief to hear the starting
gun fired by Eric-Paul Dijkhuizen. The managing director of sponsor
AD looks on admiringly at the huge crowd of people that passes
below the platform.
Men
While the female medal winners were born in 1994, 1995 and 1997,
the winner of the men's race was born in 1988. Menno Beck comes
from Lekkerkerk and trains with Hague Athletics.
"I am very satisfied with a time of 16.56 minutes. I won here
last year also and as a result I have been invited by the
organisers to take part again this year. I am eagerly looking for
sponsors and would like to develop myself in various running
events. I really wanted to run the 10 kilometres. A possible second
victory was the reason I ran the five again, and with success."
