Sanne Broeksma wins the 10 K Run Rotterdam again

In the 10 K Run Rotterdam the women's podium had a foreign flavour, with the silver medal winner Danish Malene Munkeholm from Copenhagen (37.04). Liana Eelkema from Wateringen came third (38.08). The top step was occupied by Sanne Broeksma from Rotterdam, who needed just 37 minutes for the 10,000 meters.

"I came fourth recently at the perfectly organised CPC Run The Hague. In 2010 I won this Rotterdam 10 kilometre run too and I really wanted to defend my title. Because, this is after all my city and I know many of the people standing along the route. This was really something awesome to be taking part in.

"I have run my own race and I didn't notice the other participants. I was well aware that the person behind me was only a short distance away. Luckily I was still able to beat her. But I have to go now, because I have promised to run fifteen kilometres with someone during the marathon. I hope to run a marathon here one day. I'm off to taste the atmosphere now."

And off went the blonde 10 kilometre winner from Rotterdam.

Men

Jelmer Leen Ingen (third in 33.41), Fouad Fertoute (second in 33.16) and winner of the men's category Anton Costeris (32.38) are having a chat about their 10 kilometre.

Winner Costeris says he belongs to the running group from Bram Wassenaa. He is known as a great talent. The runner from Phanos will take part in the 10 kilometre track event in Veenendaal on April 28. "However, I belong to the twenty best runners classed by time. That in itself is not that difficult, because the enthusiasm for such events is not huge. Unfortunately there is little real competition in The Netherlands."
