 | Patrick Makau and Aberu Kebede winners of 30th Fortis Marathon Rotterdam12-04-2010Patrick Makau of Keney and Ethiopian Aberu Kebede were the winners of the 30th edition of the Fortis Marathon Rotterdam. Windy and rather cold (8-10 degrees CT) conditions were a hinderance in the hope of bettering the Rotterdam course record, which was set last year after a thrilling finish between the Kenyans Duncan Kibet and James Kwambai who with 2:07:27 clocked the fastest marathon time of 2009. Patrick Makau won the race in the untill now fastest time of the year of 2:04:48. His compatriot Geoffrey Mutai also broke the 2:05:00 barrier finishing second in 2:04:55. Had the men's race a close finish, the women's edtion was a lonely affair for Aberu Kebede in 2:25:29. American Magdalena Lewy Boulet took second place in a personal best time of 2:26:22. |
